Hope Briggs has graced opera houses and concert halls around the world as well as around the Bay area where she resides. She was featured as the voice of Emma Hyers in the PBS documentary ‘Voices for Freedom- the Hyers Sisters Legacy.’ Ms. Briggs will be joined by SF Opera staff Robert Mollicone in a special MLK celebration program that includes operatic arias, spirituals, and songs by Barber and Burleigh.

Start your New Year's Eve with contemplative labyrinth walk, jazz and poetry at Epworth. This is a Free event featuring a guided walk by a certified labyrinth facilitator in the Fellowship Hall, followed by Bay Area jazz performers in the Sactuary. Hello Eworth UMC neighbors! What are your hopes for 2026? This holiday season at Epworth, we’re gathering hopes from near and far, linking them to the handmade stars we are making in the Epworth art studio. Each hope we receive will become part of the installation, joining hundreds of others in the Sanctuary. You are invited to write your hopes, and some of them will be displayed in our Poetry Box.

Come to Epworth UMC on 1953 Hopkins Street, Berkeley, CA. During the 5 pm service, kids of all ages re-enact the nativity story with costumes and fun. The 11 pm service is contemplative. *Meditative music starts at 10:30 pm. All are welcome!

Celebrate the solstice - the shortest day and the coming of light! Let's practice staying grounded in the chaos, holding space for paradoxes of joy and sorrow, hope and fear, darkness and light.

Be sure to mark your calendar for our annual Advent Workshop on Sunday December 7th, right after worship in Fellowship Hall. There will be music, a finger-food potluck, and lots of fun crafts and activities for all ages–6 months to 96 years old.

All professing members of the church are invited to attend and vote at Epworth’s Annual Church Conference. We will vote on the pastor's compensation package, nominations, and the membership report. We will also celebrate our ministries and look to 2026 together. Please come at 12:30 p.m. with a potluck lunch offering to enjoy together. Rev. Carol Estes will preside. The meeting will be called to order at 1:00 p.m.

Join us for an after-worship conversation with Doug Cunningham, retired UMC elder and author of Beyond the White Church: Disrupting Racism, Rebuilding Faith Community.

Invitation: What does reparations mean to you? Two friends, one Black and one white, journey to their Southern ancestral homes, exploring reparations' meaning. Their travels uncover opportunities that transform their bond, communities, reclaiming and reckoning with their roots.

We will remember those who have died in the past year, from both congregations, as we celebrate All Saints.
