Grace and peace to you:

As we come into this new season in the Los Rios District, we write with deep gratitude and an effervescent sense of anticipation for the ministry that we will share together. We begin by expressing our deep appreciation for the faithful leadership of Rev. David Niu who served as District Superintendent over the past three years. Though I began my district work last fall, this new year I am overjoyed (in a Stevie Wonder kind of way), to be joined by my friend and colleague, Rev. Dr. Debbie Weatherspoon. Together, we hope to serve you well as your Co-District Superintendents.

"Hope is invented each day"

The simple quote by James Baldwin, in part, forms Bishop Sandy's approach on how courageous innovation can midwife a sense of hope and new possibilities in the future. It spurs the type of boldness to break out of old structures and start something new like reimagining how the superintendency functions. As we prepare to begin this shared ministry, we are grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside you and look forward to partnering with clergy and laity throughout the district in the months ahead.

While each of us will have primary supervisory responsibilities for specific circuits, we want to emphasize that the Los Rios District remains one district united in mission, ministry, and connection. We are committed to working closely together, supporting one another's ministries, and strengthening the relationships that bind us together. Beginning July 1st, primary supervisory responsibilities will be organized as follows:

While these assignments identify primary supervisory responsibilities, clergy and congregations should expect to see both of us throughout the district in support of our shared ministry. Further, though we are organized by circuit, our ministry is rooted in a deeper truth: we belong to one another, and together we are called to heal the world.
