Epworth Prayer Shawl Ministry

A Close Knit Community

Every 2nd Sunday in the parlor at 12:30, following the potluck and adult study class.

Epworth’s active prayer shawl ministry is an intergenerational group of creative Epworthians who make comforting shawls, blankets, and wraps for Pastor Linda’s use as an adjunct to her pastoral care.   These creations are, in fact, embodied prayers on behalf of the whole Epworth community.

Why do we do this?  Several of us know of family members who have been given shawls during times of illness, grief, or personal crisis, and some of us have been the blessed recipients of a shawl ourselves.  We understand the grace and power of such a gift, freely given in love. Embodying the blessings and prayers of its maker, a shawl is a gentle and comforting reminder of how we are knit together in relationship and community.

We continue to meet monthly, and we work individually on our own time at home.  We always welcome new members and look forward to exploring the ways in which we can continue to support Epworth’s congregational care ministries.
