Beloved Epworth Community,

I’m excited to share with you about a new series at Epworth beginning August 21 called “Homecoming.” The years of pandemic have changed the ways we’ve been engaging with our church community. Our style of worship has shifted, the ways many of our groups and committees meet has changed, and the way we are serving and reaching out to the community looks different.

The way we are practicing and living out our faith is manifesting in new ways which are more diffused and diverse, but no less vital. Are you missing connection, or looking for a way to serve that fits a shift in where you feel called? Do you have a sense that there is a lot going on at Epworth but you’re not sure how to access it or learn more?

The Homecoming series kicks off with a Ministry Fair after worship on Sunday, August 21. I want to urge you to put this date on your calendar now and be present at Epworth that day. Representatives from every ministry, group, committee and task force of the church will be present to share about what they are doing and how you could be a part.

For instance, Epworth’s Sanctuary Action Team coordinates a number of projects that serve refugees fleeing violence in their home country. You may have heard mention of this in worship or in Epworth’s communications. Maybe you have felt drawn to this service but didn’t know how to take the next step. The Ministry Fair is your opportunity to ask questions, learn more, and find where you fit. As things have evolved over the course of the pandemic, new opportunities for reaching out are possible.

We all want to live lives of meaning and purpose. Epworth has been a home for generations of persons whose faith has found expression and sustenance through our community. I hope you’ll use this focus on “Homecoming” to discover a new outlet for where God is calling you, to find a new direction for your passion, and to be nourished by the community that welcomes all to the love of God.
