2020 General Election: Accessible Voting Location (Polling Place) information

Beloved Epworth Community,

Grace and peace to you. Our faith calls us to be active in calling for peace and justice in a variety of ways, and one of the ways we do that is through voting. The coming election on November 3rd is a unique and significant general election in several ways.

Epworth has served as a neighborhood polling place for many years. This year we were contacted again to be an accessible voting location, but the need was even greater due to typical polling places not being available (schools, community centers, libraries, etc.) The Do No Harm team and the Trustees discerned that though there are risks involved in being a polling place, if we could find two hosts to be present throughout the four days of voting to help ensure safety, provide welcome and support the poll workers, we would proceed. We put out that call and within 24 hours, every slot was filled. THANK YOU for your willingness to serve in this way.

Epworth will be open the following days and hours for in-person voting:

  • Saturday, October 31st, 2020 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

  • Sunday, November 1st, 2020 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

  • Monday, November 2nd, 2020 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

  • Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020 - Election Day 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM

There has been some question as to whether or not we also have a box for dropping off ballots before these days. We do not. Here is a list of 24 hour ballot drop box locations, with the closest to Epworth being the North Berkeley branch of the Berkeley Public Library: Alameda County - ballot drop box map

Voters can bring their completed ballots to Epworth on the dates and times listed above.

One major difference this year is that there will be 100 Accessible Voting Location throughout Alameda County, which any voter can visit. For a map of Alameda County Voting locations: https://www.acgov.org/rov_app/pollinglist

As we approach November 3, let’s be in prayer for all working to make sure this a fair and democratic election without violence. Let’s be in prayer for our country that we would continue to strive for the high ideals of equality, justice and freedom with responsibility on which we were founded.

Blessings,

Pastor Kristin
