About the Event
Thank you for your participation throughout our Holy Conversations series. Discernment Day, our culminating session, is Sunday, November 14 from 11:45 AM - 1:30 PM (please note the extended time).
Please take a moment to pre-register to let us know if you planning to participate in person, through zoom, or if you're not sure yet, so we can be prepared with enough sandwiches and chairs.
Here's what to expect and how to prepare:
- We'll begin with gathering music at 11:40 AM and extend our time together until 1:30PM. Please finish your lunch and be seated in Fellowship Hall or logged into zoom promptly by 11:45.
- After an opening prayer and brief introduction, we'll break up into conversation groups around tables or in zoom breakout rooms of 6 people. Each table or breakout room will identify a Time-keeper, a Recorder to take notes, and a Reporter who will speak to the full group during the time for report back.
- Over the next hour through a series of guiding questions, every person will have the opportunity to share their personal reflections and learnings from this journey, as well as where we the Epworth community are being called by God to dismantle white supremacy and racial injustice within our own congregation and in the world.
- After this guided conversation, we'll reconvene and each table and breakout room will report back their key responses. We will record this portion through zoom so that the Design Team may refer back to it when drafting a congregational statement and action steps. We'll also ask each table and breakout group to turn in their notes.
