Pastor Linda Loessberg-Zahl

ABOUT LINDA
Linda Loessberg-Zahl has served Centennial United Methodist Church, a diverse and lively congregation in Sacramento, for the past 10 years. Her love of diversity and appreciation of differences were shaped by her childhood experience of living in seven different states in this country and two countries overseas.

She came with her husband Bob to California in 1980 to attend seminary, after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude from the University of Texas, Austin. She began her life as a United Methodist in 1983 at Epworth! The next year she joined the Epworth staff as Outreach Minister, as a field education student. She stayed in that position for two years until she was ordained in the California/Nevada Conference in 1985, soon after earning a Master of Divinity from Pacific School of Religion in 1984.

Linda has served a variety of churches: in San Jose, in the Foothills and in Sacramento. She was appointed as Special Assistant to the Bishop from 2002 to 2004. She has learned from a variety of leadership opportunities in the conference: Chair-person of the Social Justice Committee of the Board of Church and Society, Chairperson of the Delta District Committee on Ordained Ministry, Vice Chairperson of the Bay View District Council on Ministries, Dean of the District Chairs and Member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Ordained Ministry, and Chairperson of the Conference Personnel Committee. She has also served on the Conference Israel/Palestine Task Force and has recently been invited to join the Bay Area Immigration Taskforce of Justice for our Neighbors. She has joined in justice and relationship building trips to El Salvador, the Fiji Islands and Palestine.

Linda and Bob have three young adult children. Aaron, the oldest is a Cal grad working in San Jose. Josh attends UC Santa Barbara and their daughter Lexi is completing her freshman year at UCLA. Linda and Bob love to hike, travel, enjoy the theater and meet new people!
