Jerry Asheim, Church Musician
Jerry Asheim has been a church musician his whole life, serving Epworth since 1989 as Organist and Music Director. He holds a Master of Divinity from United Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Minnesota, where he studied organ with Heinrich Fleischer. While doing graduate work with Dr. Fleischer, Jerry was an organ instructor at the University of Minnesota. An Ordained United Methodist Minister since 1973, Jerry is a life-long human rights advocate and a R.N. working with Visiting Nurses Services for Hospice San Francisco as a HIV/Hospice Infusion Nurse.

Fred Jardin, Communications Coordinator
Fred Jardin is the Communications Coordinator at Epworth, developing and designing print publications, managing the website, and overseeing the calendar. Fred is also Building Use Manager, working with staff and outside organizations to facilitate use of Epworth. He also spearheads the Epworth Music and Arts Ministry. Fred has worked as business owner of a property management and storage firm. He is a native of the Bay Area, married to Susan Jardin and father to Elliott and Kiana.

Susan Jardin, Director of Children & Family Ministries
Susan Elliott Jardin is Director of Children and Family Ministries at Epworth.  She is involved in developing and implementing Sunday School curricula for grades Pre-K – 5, and helping to nurture a welcoming and informative community for parents and children at Epworth. She also runs the Epworth Playgroups for toddlers, which provides community and social stimulation for East Bay children and their parents.  She has worked with children and educational programming for many years, as a ceramics art instructor, mentoring coordinator at a local public school, and as Chair of Epworth’s Childrens Council.  A graduate of Pitzer College, she holds a BA in Cultural Anthropology and lived in Italy for several years before returning to Northern California.  She is married to Fred Jardin and has two children.

Jonn Moh Bi, Nursery Care
Jonn Moh Bi coordinates the Nursery assistants and volunteers each Sunday morning faithfully. She also works during the week providing child care in other communities.




Martin Perez, Custodian
In addition to his dedicated part time work for the Epworth Community, Martin Perez uses his knowledge of the Mayan Quiche language and his translation skills within the Federal Courts. Martin is also an accomplished musician who performs with the band Marimba Maya.

Brian Adkins, Pastoral Intern
Brian is a second-year Master of Divinity student at Pacific School of Religion. He is originally from Ohio, where he grew up on a small farm among his extended Appalachian family. Before moving to San Francisco in 2007 to work with a humanitarian relief organization, Brian served as a faith-based community organizer and an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer. In 2010, he participated in the SoulForce Equality Ride, a traveling forum exploring issues of faith and justice. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Reconciling Ministries Network. He is a member at Glide Memorial UMC. Brian lives in Berkeley with his partner who is a PhD candidate in Ethnic Studies at UC Berkeley.
