Epworth is a lively and active intergenerational faith community. Representing the rich diversity of families that make up the Bay Area, we are a blend of races, ages, sexual orientations, genders, occupations, abilities, and perspectives. This heady mixture gives life to the community, enriches our worship experience, and fosters creative engagement within our congregation, within the larger United Methodist Church, our local communities, and the increasingly complex world in which we live.
Our mission is to come together to worship, to study, and to live out God’s love so that we strengthen our Christian faith, develop a creative, supportive community, and encourage each other in our many ministries.
We strive to put our faith into action, reaching out to others in need–locally and globally–supporting justice for all people, as we meet needs together in a changing world.
We affirm our United Methodist heritage, seek to understand and celebrate our many differences as well as the ties that bind us, and we strive to be a fully inclusive church.
Sunday worship time is a celebration—with joyous music, inspirational and challenging messages, and a time of sharing and prayer in community.
Welcome to Epworth — a church that’s big enough to make a difference and small enough to feel like home.
Epworth’s Reconciling Statement: We welcome all people on their journey of faith regardless of age, physical condition, race, gender, sexual orientation, or class, and support each other in our ministries to one another, the community, and the world.
Epworth United Methodist Church is part of the Reconciling Ministries Network, a national grassroots organization that mobilizes United Methodists of all sexual orientations and gender identities to transform our Church and world into the full expression of Christ’s inclusive love.
