EPWORTH'S MINISTRIES are supported by a dedicated professional and volunteer staff:

Rev. Odette Lockwood-StewartThe Reverend Odette Lockwood-Stewart has served for 25 years in parish and campus ministries in California. A graduate of Boston University School of Theology (M. Div., Summa cum Laude), she served local churches in Boston, Los Angeles and San Leandro and campus ministries at the University of California at San Francisco, UCLA, and University of California at Berkeley. Odette is passionate about faith formation and justice education ministries. She came to Epworth from the Pacific School of Religion where she served as Director of Contextual Education. In October 2003 Rev. Lockwood-Stewart was elected Chair of the Order of Elders of the California-Nevada Annual Conference United Methodist Church. She is author of published articles, sermons, curricula and devotional resources. She and her husband, Rev. Jim Lockwood-Stewart, have four grown children, and six grandchildren.

 

Jerry AsheimJerry Asheim, Church Musician
Jerry Asheim has been a church musician his whole life, serving Epworth since 1989 as Organist and Music Director. He holds a Master of Divinity from United Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Minnesota, where he studied organ with Heinrich Fleischer. While doing graduate work with Dr. Fleischer, Jerry was an organ instructor at the University of Minnesota. An Ordained United Methodist Minister since 1973, Jerry is a life-long human rights advocate and a R.N. working with Visiting Nurses Services for Hospice San Francisco as a HIV/Hospice Infusion Nurse.

 

Andrea DavidsonAndrea Davidson, Pastoral Assistant for Youth and Adults

Reverend Andrea Davidson serves as the Pastoral Assistant for Youth and Adults.  In this capacity, Rev. Davidson assist the pastor in providing leadership and pastoral care to the church.  She also serves as Worship Director and Campus Pastor at the Pacific School of Religion.  Rev. Davidson earned a M.Div. from Union Theological Seminary in New York City and was ordained within the Baptist tradition.  She served as one of the pastors of a large congregation in Mount Vernon, NY before moving to the bay area and has intentionally sought to work across denominational lines with a variety of congregations.  She is married to Steed Davidson and they have twin sons.

 

Susan JardinSusan Jardin, Director of Children & Family Ministries

Susan Elliott Jardin is Director of Children and Family Ministries at Epworth.  She is involved in developing and implementing Sunday School curricula for grades Pre-K - 5, and helping to nurture a welcoming and informative community for parents and children at Epworth.  She also runs the Epworth Playgroups for toddlers, which provides community and social stimulation for East Bay children and their parents.  She has worked with children and educational programming for many years , as a ceramics art instructor, mentoring coordinator at a local public school, and as Chair of Epworth's Childrens Council.  A graduate of Pitzer College, she holds a BA in Cultural Anthropology and lived in Italy for several years before returning to Northern California.  She is married to Fred Jardin and has two children.

 

Lindsey KerrLindsey Kerr, Mission Intern

Lindsey Kerr is a Mission Intern with the General Board of Global Ministries and is the coordinator of the USA-Philippines Ecumenical Advocacy Network (USAPAN).  USAPAN is an inclusive network of faith-based individuals and groups based in the United States representing diverse religious, political, and organizational affiliations who support peace and justice movements in the Philippines.  Lindsey develops resource material on the human rights situation in the Philippines.  She also develops action pieces and organizes speaking events within the Filipino activist community.  Prior to coming to Berkeley she lived on the island of Mindanao in the southern Philippines for a year and a half.

Jonn Moh BiJonn Moh Bi, Nursery Care
Jonn Moh Bi coordinates the Nursery assistants and volunteers each Sunday morning faithfully. She also works during the week providing child care in other communities.

Martin PerezMartin Perez, Custodian
In addition to his dedicated part time work for the Epworth Community, Martin Perez uses his knowledge of the Mayan Quiche language and his translation skills within the Federal Courts.

 

Barbara SaylerBarbara Sayler, Coordinator of Communications

Barbara Sayler serves as the Coordinator of Communications, developing and designing print publications, managing the website, and overseeing the calendar. She also teaches with Music Together of Concord, a music and movement program for children newborn through 5 years old and the adults who love them. Barbara earned a M.Div. with a Peace Studies emphasis from Bethany Theological Seminary in Richmond, Indiana, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and Vocal Performance from McPherson College (KS).  Prior to her work at Epworth, she served as Co-Director and Communications Coordinator for On Earth Peace, a denominational peace program within the Church of the Brethren.  Barbara is married to Mark Lancaster and has a daughter and step son.
