The Reverend Odette Lockwood-Stewart has served for 25 years in parish and campus ministries in California. A graduate of Boston University School of Theology (M. Div., Summa cum Laude), she served local churches in Boston, Los Angeles and San Leandro and campus ministries at the University of California at San Francisco, UCLA, and University of California at Berkeley. Odette is passionate about faith formation and justice education ministries. She came to Epworth from the Pacific School of Religion where she served as Director of Contextual Education. In October 2003 Rev. Lockwood-Stewart was elected Chair of the Order of Elders of the California-Nevada Annual Conference United Methodist Church. She is author of published articles, sermons, curricula and devotional resources. She and her husband, Rev. Jim Lockwood-Stewart, have four grown children, and six grandchildren.
Jerry Asheim, Church Musician
Jerry Asheim has served Epworth’s music ministry for fifteen years. Jerry is Organist and Music Director. He holds the Master of Divinity from United Theological Seminary, and the Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Minnesota, where he studied organ with Heinrich Fleischer. While doing graduate work with Dr. Fleischer, Jerry was an organ instructor at the University of Minnesota. An Ordained United Methodist Minister, Jerry is also an R.N. and coordinates Visiting Nurses Services for Hospice San Francisco.
Chris Baetge, Administrative Secretary
Chris brings a background in project management and writing to her work at Epworth. Her long time commitment to all things environmental is reflected in everything from her frequent bike/BART work commute to guidance on sustainable life in the Epworth community.
Gayle Basten, Pastoral Intern
As a pastor in training, Gayle Basten is eagerly making herself available for a multitude of learning opportunities. She will work closely with the teaching parish committee during her tenure at Epworth. Gayle assists with worship services in a wide variety of capacities including liturgist, preacher and scripture reader. She assists with pastoral care calls visits and developing programs with the with the lay pastoral care team. In addition to Sunday, she is at Epworth on Wednesday afternoons to meet with the church community, make pastoral care calls, prepare for adult education classes, Sunday school and other current needs. Gayle’s special interests in ministry are spiritual formation, pastoral care and integrating art and theology.
Jonn Moh Bi, Nursery Care
Jonn Moh Bi coordinates the Nursery assistants and volunteers each Sunday morning faithfully. She also works during the week providing child care in other communities.
Lisa WilliamsCraig, Youth Director
Lisa WilliamsCraig has been working with children and youth ministry since 1993, as a Kindergarten/Pre-K Sunday School teacher and as a junior High youth minister. She has attended classes at Pacific School of Religion and is currently studying at the AMI Montessori training center in Mountain View. She is rarely seen without a kite or her knitting in her hands, but never at the same time.
Martin Perez, Custodian
In addition to his dedicated part time work for the Epworth Community, Martin Perez uses his knowledge of the Mayan Quiche language and his translation skills within the Federal Courts.
Susan Willm, Pastoral Assistant
Susan Willm has a lifelong interest in faith community and lay leadership. She is a trained Spiritual Director. Her many gifts in pastoral care and organization are brought together in her ministry at Epworth, her efforts as Development Associate at Out and Equal Workplace Advocacy and her work in freelance administration.
