We welcome all people on their journey of faith regardless of age, physical condition, race, gender, sexual orientation or class and support each other in our ministries to one another, the community and the world. Adopted November 15, 1995
Epworth United Methodist Church is part of the Reconciling Ministries Network, a national grassroots organization promoting the full participation of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities in the life of the United Methodist Church both in policies and practices.
The Rev. Jim Lockwood-Stewart preached the sermon, "Members of the Household" on the first anniversary of our decision to become a Reconciling Congregation.
Rev. Lockwood-Stewart co-officiated at the holy union ceremony of Jeanne Barnett and Ellie Charlton, two California/Nevada Conference leaders, in January 1999. He was one of sixty-eight clergy named in a complaint by a District Superintendent and in the subsequent hearing by the Committee on Investigation for Clergy Members.
